About HiveWorks Group

Experienced support. Thoughtfully handled.

I know what it's like to keep a small organization running when there's more work than there are people to do it.

Since 2014, I've worked in nonprofit leadership and operations, often in roles that extended far beyond a single job description. I've managed people and programs, built systems and processes, handled HR and administrative functions, supported financial operations, and taken care of the day-to-day details that keep an organization moving. I know this work because I've been the person responsible for it.

My experience also includes working with small businesses and being self-employed. I've seen firsthand how organizations reach a point where the systems and staffing that worked when they were smaller simply can't keep up anymore. There's more to manage behind the scenes, but not necessarily enough to justify another full-time position.

That's where HiveWorks Group comes in — as the bridge between where you are and where you're ready to be.

HiveWorks provides HR, operations, and financial administrative support for small nonprofits and growing businesses. We step in with experienced capacity where you need it, for as long as you need it. Some clients stay with us for years, scaling support up and down as their needs evolve. Others use us to get through a specific growth stretch and then bring the work in-house — and that's exactly what this is built for.

We're happy to be your long-term partner, and we're just as happy to help you build what you need to bring the work in-house. Either way, our approach is practical and hands-on. We care about getting the details right, creating systems that work, and taking ownership of the work you hand over. Every engagement is built with that bridge in mind, giving you more capacity now and a clear path forward for whatever comes next.

Founder, HiveWorks Group

“
It’s difficult to overstate how much ownership Gillian took during her time working with our organization. She had an incredible ability to see all the moving pieces of an organization — people, processes, administrative details, financial systems, deadlines — and make sure things actually got done.

What stood out to me most was that Gillian didn’t just complete tasks. She looked for ways to make the systems behind them work better. She created processes, improved documentation, brought organization to areas that needed it, and consistently noticed the details that could easily fall through the cracks. Just as importantly, she communicated clearly and made sure the people around her understood what was happening and what they needed.

Gillian also genuinely understands nonprofits. She knows what it’s like to work in an organization where everyone is wearing multiple hats, capacity is limited, and the mission still has to move forward. She brought an enormous amount of knowledge, structure, and support to the organization, and many of the systems she put in place will continue benefiting it long after her time there.

I would confidently recommend Gillian and HiveWorks Group to any nonprofit or growing organization that needs someone they can trust to step in, take ownership of the work behind the scenes, and make sure it gets done, and gets done well.
